The latest data shows that in the first three quarters of 2025, the cumulative number of tires imported by the United States was 2.17312 billion, a year-on-year rise of 6.6%.
Among them: passenger car tire imports increased by 4% year-on-year to 131.08 million; truck and bus tire imports rose by 8% year-on-year to 47.16 million; aircraft tire imports decreased by 9.3% year-on-year to 2.02 million; motor bicycle tire imports surged by 17% year-on-year to 2.92 million; bicycle tire imports grew by 2% year-on-year to 5 million.
From January to September, the United States imported a total of 16.92 million tires from China, a year-on-year decrease of 12%. Among these, passenger car tire imports from China dropped by 37% year-on-year to 0.75 million; truck and bus tire imports from China declined by 12% year-on-year to 1.05 million.

From January to September, the United States imported 56.28 million tires from Thailand, a year-on-year increase of 14%. Among them, passenger car tires reached 34.35 million, a year-on-year rise of 10%; truck and bus tires were 12.4 million, a year-on-year increase of 2.2%.
This increase (from Thailand) and decrease (from China) clearly reflects the reshaping of the global tire supply chain under the influence of geopolitics, tariff policies (such as anti-dumping and countervailing duties) and adjustments in brand procurement strategies. Southeast Asia, especially Thailand, is undertaking more orders by virtue of its industrial clusters and trade advantages.
Domestically in the United States, the U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA) forecast the country's tire shipments in November 2025. It is expected that the total shipments in 2025 will be 337.4 million, compared with 337.3 million in 2024 and 332.7 million in 2019. This represents a slight increase of 0.03% from 2024 and a 1.4% rise from 2019, exceeding the previous record of 337.3 million set in 2024.
